Map of Proposed Defence Works for Kingston Harbour, 1829.

Key to numbers on map:
1 - Fort Henry (the only planned redoubt ever built).
2 - Projected system of redoubts (5 total, not including Fort Henry), none ever built.
3 - Projected system of Martello Towers (5 total), only Murney's Point and Cedar Island towers built as planned. A third tower was built at the Market Battery (not shown), about halfway between Tête du Pont Barracks and Missisagua Point.
4 - Advance Batteries (a fourth Martello tower later replaced the Point Frederick Blockhouse).

Most of the old palisade line of defences from the War of 1812 is still visible to the west of town, along with five (out of six) still existing blockhouses.
